Four days after the typhoon while we were doing assessment in one of the communities in Tanna, I saw this couple ambling down the dirt road with a babe in their arms.
This baby was born three days after cyclone Pam. I feel that the worst times to be pregnant is during disasters or conflicts but this mother was amazing as she was able to survive the cyclone and give birth to her bundle of joy.
This couple has nine more children at home. A huge family has always been a point of interest for me as I've always wondered how there could be so much unconditional and limitless love there is to give. How do they feed their kids and take care of them? It is amazing!
"It takes a community to raise a child." In Tanna where everybody knows everybody and everybody's business, this adage holds true.
