As Kenya has no embassy in the Philippines, we are left with two options. These are to fly out to the nearest country with a Kenyan Embassy to apply or just get an Evisa. The first option needs a lot of research and can be costly. Meanwhile, applying for an Evisa has several advantages. These are:
- convenient
- It will only use a stamp on the passport and not one whole page. If you are a frequent traveler, this will be a big deal for you especially if you are saving your passport pages. However, if you are a tourist and passport aesthetics is your priority, a full page visa would be nicer, eh?
Here's the guide to help you get the necessary Kenyan visa.
- Go to https://www.ecitizen.go.ke/ and click on the green tab which is labeled Evisa.
- Create an account.
- Fill the application form and select the appropriate visa.
- Pay the required amount securely using credit card.
- Download the Evisa PDF and print.
Types of Visa
- Single Entry Visa. This visa is valid for 3 months before travel. Once this visa is presented at the immigration control at the port of entry, you will then be issued with a stay period not exceeding 90 days. If you wish to extend, it can then be renewed for a further 90 days at the immigration headquarters in Nairobi. The maximum number of days a visitor may stay in Kenya is 6 months.
- Transit Visa. This is issued to persons who have a long layover in Kenya before they fly out to other destinations. This visa allows you to stay in-country for 72 hours or three days only. If you are not planning to leave the airport though, there is no need to apply for this.
Requirement during application
- Business Visits
- Invitation Letters from company / Invitation letter for business visits
- Copies of registration of the company
- Family visits
- Invitation Letters from family.
- Identity card / Passport / Alien card / Entry permit of the host.
- Tourists
- Travel itinerary (Details about places to visit if going as a tourist).
- Hotel and tour bookings.
- Identity Documents
- A clear photo of biodata page of passport
- A clear photograph of yourself
Basic requirements which will be inspected at the Point of Entry
- Valid passport not less than six months before expiration.
- At least one blank passport page.
- An onward ticket for those who are on transit visa
Photo requirements
- DO NOT take photograph of or scan the photo in your passport.
- Must be taken within the past 6 months, showing your current appearance.
- Must be in color.
- Must show your full face, front view with a plain white or off-white background.

- Must be taken in normal street attire. Uniforms should NOT BE worn in photographs except religious attire that is worn daily.
- Do not wear a hat or headgear that obscures the hair or hairline.
- If you normally wear prescription glasses, a hearing device, wig or similar articles, they should be worn for your picture.
- Dark glasses or nonprescription glasses with tinted lenses are not acceptable unless you need them for medical reasons. A medical certificate may be required.
