10 Things to Expect When Taking the Sleeper Train in Myanmar

I took an Upper Class Sleeper ticket for the train ride from Yangon to Bagan. Ticket price was 25,000 Kyat or 21 USD or 989PHP. The 18 hour trip is a whole new experience by itself.

Here are 10 Things to Expect When Taking the Sleeper Train in Myanmar:
  1. You will be sharing the coach with three other people.
  2. You can pull out the seats and turn them into a bed.
  3. There is a bunk bed on top.
  4. Clean linens are provided.
  5. The restroom is clean but it is very challenging to use.
  6. It is so hot inside the cabin despite the windows being open.
  7. The train ride is dusty.
  8. The train sways and is noisy so sleeping is a challenge as well.
  9. Great views of the sunrise, sunset, the countryside and the people.
  10. Food vendors at almost every train stop.
