The train leaves at 4:00 pm daily and arrive at Bagan around 10am the next day. 

The duration of the ride is more or less 18 hours.

Fares is as follows:

  • Upper Class Sleeper: 17USD or 16,500 kyat
  • Upper Class Seat: 12USD or 12,000 kyat
  • Ordinary Class Seat: 4.50USD or 4,500 kyat

1. Go to Myanmar Railways Booking Office Yangon Train Station at Sule Paya.

2. Buy the ticket in advance. During high tourist season, it would be wise to book a day or two in advance but if it is low tourist season, just walk in an hour or two early. The ticket office is at the left side of the building entrance.

3. Buy something to drink and nibble along the trip. There are train stops along the way where you can buy food. However, I advice you to bring your own emergency stash for when it gets dark or you feel the food sold on the road is unsafe.
